Acute Myocarditis: From Clinical Presentation to Cardiac Imaging
نویسندگان
چکیده
Myocarditis is an inflammatory disease of the myocardium. Despite the progress of laboratory data and cardiac imaging, the diagnosis of myocarditis remains a problem in clinical practice. We report the role of non invasive cardiac imaging techniques as echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance in the diagnosis of acute myocarditis.

Node-First Kawasaki Disease Presented with Marked Pancarditis: a Case Report
Kawasaki disease is an acute inflammatory disorder of medium-sized arteries that predominantly affects cardiac coronary arteries and children under the age of 5 years. Cardiac involvement usually happens later than 10 days after the onset of illness. Most of cardiac complications are coronary artery abnormalities (ectasia or aneurysms) and subclinical myocarditis. Clinical myocarditis (symptoma...

Smallpox vaccine-associated myopericarditis may have a similar presentation to acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The clinical records of 78 young patients (<40 years of age) presenting with ACS (n = 16) or myocarditis after smallpox vaccination (n = 62) were reviewed. Comparisons were made among clinical presentation, cardiac enzymes, echocardiographic findings, and electrocardiographic changes. T...
متن کاملImaging of Inflammation in Unexplained Cardiomyopathy.
Myocarditis is a recognized but underdiagnosed cause of cardiomyopathy due to its wide clinical spectrum and nonspecific presentation. Accurate diagnosis is important because 25% of patients with acute myocarditis develop cardiomyopathy, and of those, approximately 5% per year require heart transplantation or die. Current guidelines for the recognition and treatment of the inflammatory cardiomy...
متن کاملRelationship between clinical presenting patterns of acute myocarditis and oedema and late enhancement extension
Background acute myocarditis (AM) clinical onset can span from subclinical disease to acute heart failure (AHF) ventricular fibrillation (VF) or sudden cardiac death in young adults. Myocarditis can underly the aetiology of other cardiomyopathies (CM) such as dilated CM arrhythmogenic left or right ventricle CM. Aim of the study was to evaluate the relationship between myocardial oedema and lat...

INTRODUCTION The Kounis syndrome and acute myocarditis are two distinct clinical entities, which could share nearly the same symptomatology as well as ECG (electrocardiography) and laboratory findings. CASE PRESENTATION First case was a 39-year-old male presented with acute chest pain and inferolateral ST elevation on ECG. The second case was a 29-year-old male presented with chest pain and d...
